NDIS participants can now use plan funds to claim for RATs | Afea Care
February 1st 2022

A welcome news for NDIS participants: if you require rapid antigen tests (RATs) to safely access disability-related supports, you can now use your core funding to purchase the tests.

The National Disability Insurance Agency confirmed this in a statement on 24 January.

Core supports is the funding category that helps NDIS participants with everyday activities and disability-related needs.

RATs are a quick and convenient way to test for COVID-19. You can administer the test yourself, with results available in a matter of minutes.

The initiative will remain in place until the NDIA advises of any future changes. This complements other existing COVID-19 arrangements, including the Australian government’s program to provide free rapid antigen tests for concession card holders.

Participants can also claim for RATs that they have purchased previously, as long as the RATs were required to access reasonable and necessary NDIS supports.
