Happy Harmony Week!
This week (20-26 March) is a celebration of Australia’s multicultural identity and coincides with Harmony Day and the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (21 March).
According to the latest census, more than half of all Australians are first or second-generation migrants, with more than 5.5 million people speaking a language other than English at home. Afea mirrors this cultural diversity: our workforce speaks 50+ languages and comes from many ethnicities, ages and demographic backgrounds.
Inclusiveness, respect and providing a sense of belonging is at the heart of who we are and what we do. We believe that regardless of your language, cultural background or ability, you deserve to be safe and feel welcomed.
‘Around the World’ Potluck
The Afea team started the week with a Monday potluck lunch, with team members wearing traditional outfits or clothing that represents something from ‘around the world’. What a great way to bring everybody together to share a taste of numerous cultures through their food.
We hope this week brings not only fun activities but meaningful conversations and new learnings about how we can all live better, in harmony.
