This year, Afea Care Services is marking 15 years of caring, supporting and empowering our local community.

To celebrate this milestone, we’re hosting a feast for our ohana (“family”) on Sunday, 22 October 2023 at River Canyon, situated on the banks of the Parramatta River.

This special Afea Ohana Lunch is also part of our National Carers Week (15 to 21 October) celebrations, to show our appreciation of our caregivers and support workers!

 

The theme is Tropicana Glamorama, so grab your Hawaiian shirts, leis, grass skirts and coconut shells! 🌺🥥

Important Information

How do I join the Afea Ohana Lunch?

Active Afea Clients and Carers get one (1) free ticket each. Simply book your tickets on Eventbrite using your UNIQUE promo code that we’ve sent via email.

We have limited space at the venue, so booking is essential.

Each client or carer can purchase one (1) additional ticket for $10.

Please note that tickets are non-refundable.

 

Do I need to book tickets in advance?

Yes. We will need to scan your ticket at the venue before you can join the event.

We have limited space at the venue. If you show up without a ticket, we can’t guarantee that we’d be able to accommodate you. So please book your ticket well in advance to secure your spot!

Does my guest need to be my support worker?

Not necessarily. If your support worker is an Afea Carer, they are also entitled to free entry at the event. You don’t need to purchase a ticket for them. Your Afea Carer just needs to book their ticket using the unique code we’ve emailed them to secure their spot.

Otherwise, entry is $10 for your guest.

 

Is the venue suitable for guests with a disability?

Yes, we have chosen this venue because it is accessible and wheelchair-friendly.

Will there be food and drink provided?

Yes! Your ticket entitles you to celebrate with us with a buffet lunch. This includes all-you-can-drink non-alcoholic beverages.

There is a bar where you can purchase alcoholic drinks.

 

What time should we arrive?

Doors open at 12pm. Afea staff will be on hand to scan your ticket and welcome you.

Is there a program?

Yes! We’ll have lots of games and entertainment while you enjoy your lunch.

We will also be awarding our Support Worker of the Month for the month of October and recognise previous months’ winners.

Is there parking available?

There are limited parking spots available at the venue. However, there are plenty of free parking options in Parramatta.

You can use Parking Finder to find the type of parking you need, including accessible parking.

If you are taking public transport, the restaurant is accessible by bus and is only about 700m from the Parramatta Train Station.
