We have a new CEO! Afea Care Services is proud to appoint Hiyantha “Sam” Kariyawasam as Chief Executive Officer.
Sam is a certified public accountant and has been with Afea since 2012. He has held a variety of leadership roles, most recently that of Deputy CEO. He will be succeeding Gaurav Oberoi, who served as Afea CEO from July 2021.
Gaurav, who will continue to serve as Afea’s Executive Director, will be focusing on growing the organisation’s Board of Directors. The Board will further support Afea in the face of evolving regulatory frameworks in the NDIS and aged care sectors.
He will also oversee the growth of our services alongside ensuring investments in strong governance, service capabilities and compliance.
Upholding Our Values
“Sam has been a key contributor to Afea’s growth over the past 11 years,” Gaurav said. “He has helped navigate Afea through numerous challenging times demonstrating strong acumen and resilience.
“His commitment to community welfare extends beyond Afea’s support services to his volunteer work at various charities. I am confident that under his leadership Afea will continue to scale its impact whilst upholding our values.”
An Exciting New Phase
“I am honoured to take the mantle of Chief Executive Officer and lead Afea into its exciting new phase,” Sam said.
“When I first joined Afea in 2012, I was drawn to its positive culture and the passion of the people within it,” Sam said. “I am proud to say that we have only grown from strength to strength in terms of our culture, relationships and connections within the community. Our mission to empower people remains unwavering. We have enormous potential for growth, and I can see an exciting future ahead of us.”
Congratulations, Sam!
