Learn more about the Community Cooperative - Afea Care Services
August 22nd 2022

Thanks to our partnership with Enliven Housing, SDA participants gain access to a unique Community Cooperative model. Keep reading to learn more about how the Community Cooperative can help you get the most out of your NDIS Core Support budget.

What is the Community Cooperative?

Afea is Enliven’s on-site care support partner for Evoke in Blacktown and The Henry in Penrith. As a resident of these SDA apartments, you get access not only to Afea’s experienced and compassionate support workers, but also to Enliven’s innovative housing solution—the Community Cooperative.

The Community Cooperative helps members of the cooperative in the same building to share the cost of paying for on-site support. This arrangement means you can enjoy support when you need it, while paying less by sharing the cost to have reliable care services onsite 24/7.

How it works

Let’s say you are funded for one-to-one support for two hours every day. This means you have a personal support worker attending to your needs for two hours in the morning.

With the Community Cooperative, you can join forces with two other members with the same funding. By sharing support time, this gives everyone a collective six hours of coverage.

So instead of getting support for only two hours in the morning, you have support coverage for most of the day for the same level of funding.

The more NDIS funded residents in the Cooperative, the less your contribution every week.
