We have opened the doors to our brand-new location in Liverpool! We are looking forward to connecting with our local community of NDIS Participants and Support Workers.
The global health crisis has highlighted the challenges of social distancing and isolation. However, it has also made us aware of the importance of active involvement in our local community. We’ve opened this new location in the heart of Sydney’s South to bring Afea closer to the community.
Afea Support in the Liverpool LGA
Many of our wonderful clients and their Afea Carers (Support Workers) live in the Liverpool LGA. With our Liverpool office, they now have their own dedicated team of support staff.
Over the last nine months, we’ve been recruiting locally for the most passionate people to join our team. Anmol, an Afea Carer, joins us as a part of our Care Coordination Team. Mervin, our Liverpool Team Leader, comes with years of leadership experience.
“Liverpool Lions”
The Liverpool team has already claimed a name for themselves – “The Liverpool Lions” – bringing a powerful roar of energy to Sydney’s South.
However, they make sure to also have time to have fun and recharge. It is a spacious office with a lively and welcoming atmosphere that is relaxed and fun. Our newest teammate, Aditi, says “My favourite thing is when my team opens the door for me, I feel so welcome.”
Being situated in the Liverpool LGA means they are able to interact more frequently with clients and carers. The team at Liverpool have already hosted some small get-togethers with clients and Carers, such as a coffee catchup for Halloween in October.
As Mervin says, “It’s good to see them in person! Being able to have one on one interactions allows us to create connections with our clients and Carers. We are also able to gain valuable feedback on how we can best serve their needs.”
“There is a community of people living with disability and people who require aged care who can benefit from our services,” Mervin continues. “With us here, reaching out to clients and Carers is easier, and it’s accessible and welcoming to everyone”.
The members of our new Liverpool team reflect on why they chose to work with Afea: “To make a difference and help people other than ourselves, to overcome our own challenges and make a difference in people’s lives. It is very rewarding.”
