We have opened the doors to our brand-new location in Liverpool and are looking forward to connecting with our local community of NDIS Participants and Support Workers.
The biggest struggle we’ve been having as a society in the past 24 months is social isolation. It’s highlighted the importance of face-to-face interactions and involvement in the community. This is why we’ve opened another location in the heart of Sydney’s South.
Many of our wonderful clients and their Afea Carers (Support Workers) live in the Liverpool LGA, and they now have their own dedicated team of support staff. Over the last nine months, we’ve been recruiting the best local people to the team.
People like Anmol, who was an Afea Carer, then joined us as a part of our Care Coordination Team. Mervin, our Liverpool Team Leader joins us from the travel industry and comes with years of leadership experience.
The Liverpool team have already claimed a name for themselves: ‘The Liverpool Lions’. For them, it representation having a balance in what they do, by working hard while ensuring that they have time to have fun and reset. It is a spacious office with a lively and welcoming atmosphere that is relaxed and fun. Our newest teammate, Aditi, says “My favourite thing is when my team opens the door for me, I feel so welcome.”
The team at Liverpool have already hosted some small get-togethers with clients and Carers such as a coffee catchup for Halloween last month. One of their favourite things about being there is the fact that they have been able to interact more frequently with clients and carers as they have been visiting often. As Mervin and the team say: “It’s good to see them in person, being able to have one on one interactions allows us to create connections with our clients and Carers. We are also able to gain valuable feedback on how we can improve.”
“Location-wise it’s perfect, there is a higher concentration of people living with disability and aged care here, reaching out to clients and Carers is easier and it’s accessible and welcoming to everyone”.
The members of our new Liverpool team reflect on why they chose to work with Afea: “To make a difference and help people other than ourselves, to overcome our own challenges and make a difference in people’s lives. It is very rewarding.”
