Meet our Support Coordinator, Riya - Afea Care Services
October 25th 2022

Say hello to our Support Coordinator, Riya! In her previous role as a member of Afea’s Client Intake team, Riya had the chance to work closely with various stakeholders in the NDIS, including support coordinators and Local Area Coordinators.

Riya was intrigued by the support coordinator’s role in helping participants find the services they need. Now that she has joined their ranks, she is enjoying every minute of it!

What led you to Afea?

I joined Afea as a Client Intake Coordinator in 2020. I could relate to Afea’s values and was heavily inspired by Esha, our founder. I could connect with Afea on a personal level, which makes the job more enjoyable.

After two years, I transitioned to the role of Support Coordinator when this amazing opportunity came along.

Can you tell us about the process of making the switch from Intake to Support Coordinator?

I worked in the Intake role for over a year, and it was absolutely great. I was working closely with Support Coordinators, LACs, and other stakeholders. The role of Support Coordinator was intriguing, being able to work closely with participants in assisting them to achieve their goals.

When an opportunity opened up in the Afea Support Coordination team, I jumped on to it and was fortunate to get this role. I am loving my new role as a Support Coordinator with Afea. Every day is a new day!

What’s the best thing about Afea?

My amazing and supportive colleagues and how each employee has the opportunity to grow.

What is your proudest moment at Afea?

All those times where I have been valued, appreciated and recognised for all my efforts are my proud moments at Afea. I have had clients coming to visit in the office just to share their gratitude for supporting them. This has made me feel very special and proud.

And now for the Fun Round…

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Don’t want to sound creepy but I would love to have a superpower to read people’s mind.  I really want to understand why people think the way they think. What is going on in that mind?

Do you have any pets? What are they like?

Yes, I have a Moodle. Groot is just 5 months old and is playful, fair bit naughty and adorable. I am an obsessed pawrent who cannot stop gushing about their pet.

Where is your dream destination vacation?

I would love to be able to go to Venice in Italy one day to soak up the culture and beautiful architecture.
