Ranila first joined Afea seven years ago, moving from an accounts officer role to the Team Leader position in our Plan Management team.

She was instrumental in our move to our Afea Plan Management Portal, which is one of the first plan management platforms in the industry designed to provide real-time budgeting, speedy claims and accessible statements.

“I had to play a major role during this transition,” Ranila shares, “and it was 100% successful without any customer complaints or payment delays.”

Not a lot of people know this, but Ranila is a twin! Her twin sister is currently based in Sri Lanka and also works in the healthcare industry.

Tell us about your background – why did you choose to work in this industry, specifically in Plan Management?

I joined as an accounts officer for the Afea finance team. Initially, I was handling the finance side of most of the brokerage clients, private clients, My Aged Care (Home Care Package) clients, then NDIS clients.

Later, I became the Team Leader of the Plan Management team. I am passionate about this disability industry. It gives me the opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life by helping them to manage their funding.

Can you talk about your responsibilities as Plan Management Team Leader?

The primary role of NDIS plan managers is to make payments on behalf of our clients while managing the NDIS funding. My main responsibility as Team Leader is overseeing this process and helping my team in the decision-making and problem-solving processes.

How did you find out about Afea?

Our Finance Manager, Sam, introduced me to the business seven years ago. Over those seven years, I have been able to grow as a person while contributing my service to the Afea finance team.

What’s the best thing about the company?

The best thing about the company is the culture. We have flexible working hours with the opportunity to work from home, great management style and many other benefits.

What is your proudest moment at Afea?

In 2020, we introduced our Plan Management platform. I had to play a major role during this transition, and it was 100% successful without any customer complaints or payment delays.

Tell us something that most people don’t know about you. 

I have a twin sister who is working in a similar industry as a nurse. Even though she lives overseas, we have a very close relationship, but I miss her very badly.

Where is your destination for a dream vacation?

New Zealand has a range of breathtaking scenery, from beaches to subtropical forests, offshore islands to glaciers. There’s just so much to explore. It will not be wrong to say that heaven appears a bit closer to earth there.
