Afea Carer Nageena

Given her passions, it’s important to Nageena to find a company that offers flexibility and does impactful work in the community. “It was difficult to come across vision-oriented work opportunities with a flexible schedule,” she shares.

Enter Afea!

“I remember getting my interview call at uni and the HR person asked all the right questions and took notes of the schedule to best support me in this role,” Nageena explains. “It’s unique how the company not only cares for the clients but is compassionate and empathetic towards the carers as well.”

In her spare time, Nageena likes volunteering for community events and spending time with her nieces.

How did you find out about Afea?

As someone who aspires to work as a case manager after graduation, I decided to work as a support worker to gain an understanding of day-to-day life of people with disability, and how NDIS plans impact different aspects of people’s lives.

As a full-time student, it was difficult to come across vision-oriented work opportunities with a flexible schedule. My friend who was working at Afea told me about the wide range of clientele and flexible hours Afea offers. That was it for me. I remember getting my interview call at uni and the HR person asked all the right questions and took notes of the schedule to best support me in this role. I knew right then that joining Afea is the best decision I made.

What is your proudest moment at Afea as a carer?

The role of a carer is very rewarding. Every day is a new day with its challenges and lessons.

It’s hard to put a finger on one instance where I felt particularly proud.

Well, off the top of my head, I recently got recognised as Carer of the Month which was a very proud moment for me! I received emails and calls from my coordinators who shared their feedback and congratulated me which was a very fulfilling moment for me professionally.

What do you like best about the company?

The best part about Afea is the work culture and strong support system for employees. I have always felt at home and cared for at Afea. The team has been very supportive of my studies. With semester breaks and otherwise, the team is quick to match my needs with available services.

It’s unique how the company not only cares for the clients but is compassionate and empathetic towards the carers as well.
