This Valentine’s Day, one Afean is marking a sweet milestone: Deki begins her new role on 14 February as Head of Sales! With over a decade of sales experience, she first joined the organisation as Care Coordinator in 2020 and is now ready to bring Afea to greater heights.
In this short interview, Deki shares her career journey and what she loves best about Afea.
When did you first join Afea and in what role?
I joined Afea in July 2020 as a Care Coordinator and was soon promoted to Senior Sales Team Leader in September 2021. Early last year, I led the West Services team and have grown a strong and effective team.
What led you to Afea?
In addition to building a career, I wanted to work in a field that would enable me to have a sense of purpose and build good karma!
What’s your favourite thing about the company?
The culture at Afea and my like-minded colleagues. We are all different but we have a shared purpose in empowering people and caring for the vulnerable.
What is your proudest moment at Afea as a Services Team Leader?
There have been several moments: the promotions I have had, the responses I’ve received from my team and clients.
But the one moment that stands out is my team achieving growth and delivering excellent customer service. I can see my team make a difference in the community, week by week.
Why did you decide to apply for the Head of Sales role?
The Head of Sales role appeals to me as it presents a challenge and it is something that can be measured and hence improved. It enables me to learn and improve myself.
With your promotion to Head of Sales, what are you hoping to achieve in the future?
As Head of Sales, I would like to see Afea grow from strength to strength in the quality of our service and month on month with an increase in market share.
We are excited for Deki – her appointment to Afea’s leadership team is a testament to her growth and Afea’s support of staff’s professional development.
