Did you know that a number of our support workers are students? Support work offers flexible hours and is the perfect complement to their studies as they gain experience helping others.
Meet Navin, who is an international student from Nepal. He holds a Certificate IV in Disability and is currently studying a master’s degree in IT. He tells us that as a carer for Afea, he loves the chance to work close to his current home in Sydney and the support he receives from the team.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m an international student from Nepal studying a master’s in IT. I have completed my Certificate IV in Disability and I’m currently working as a carer for Afea. I’m enjoying being a part of the community by helping in however way I can.
When did you first join Afea as carer?
I joined Afea in October 2021.
What led you to Afea?
I Googled the best places to work as a carer and found Afea! I simply went on the website and applied.
Do you have previous experience providing support work in aged care/the NDIS?
Yes, I was working with a different NDIS provider before I joined Afea. I also have experience working in an aged care home through an agency.
What is your proudest moment at Afea as carer?
Whenever I hear from the Care Coordinators that the clients are very happy with me, that makes me feel proud and keeps me motivated.
What do you like most about Afea?
Flexibility around work hours and the help from the Coordinators to find clients near our home makes it very easy and convenient to manage study and work.
